Did you know? Annual reviews start now.

Renew your Medicaid coverage!

Medicaid members must complete an annual review form each year to check if they are still eligible for coverage.  During the COVID-19 public health emergency, Medicaid had special rules which allowed members to keep their coverage. However, the federal government has told states to restart annual reviews.

Effective, April 1, 2023, South Carolina resumed the annual eligibility review process. While members will begin receiving notices and review forms in April 2023, the agency thinks it will take 12 months to complete the process. This means some members will not receive their notice or annual review form until March 2024. You must complete your review and return it by the deadline in the letter. If you don't return it by the deadline, Medicaid will send you a notice to let you know the date your Medicaid benefits will end.

So you don’t participate in either Select Health or Absolute Total Care health plans and would like to see if you can switch? The member’s eligibility category determines if you are assignable or non-assignable.

  • Assignable members can change their plan during their 90-day enrollment period or request a For Cause Transfer.

  • Non-Assignable members can change their plan at any time.

Contact Health Connections Choices for help to complete a request a “For Cause Transfer”. SCDHHS makes the final determination of approval or denial for the transfer request.

Don’t have Medicaid but still interested in school-based counseling?

Governmental and commercial health insurance plans consider school-based counseling as not medically necessary and do not cover services. We do offer out of network services.

If you believe your child could benefit from these school-based counseling services or have any questions regarding the process.

We are committed to fostering a nurturing and supportive educational journey for your child, and in-school psychotherapy counseling is just one of the ways we are working to achieve this.

Thank you for your trust and partnership in ensuring the best possible outcomes for your child's mental health and academic success.
